Deeper understanding
We stay with one book long enough to understand it, so it's more than a verse here and a verse there.
Study the Bible with Pastor Tammy is a place to gather around Scripture, ask questions, and grow in faith alongside other people who want to keep growing too. The group meets on scheduled Thursday afternoons at Called Coffee, a few blocks from the church.
This fall the group finished an in-depth study of Revelation, one of the most puzzled-over books in the Bible. In October we turned to James.
James is short and practical. In five chapters it keeps asking what faith looks like on an ordinary day: how we talk to each other, how we treat people who have less, and how we hold on when life gets hard. It is a good book to read with other people, because most of us need the help.
“You must be doers of the word and not only hearers who mislead themselves.”
James 1:22

Bring the thing you have always wondered about. The conversation is the point, and nobody has to have it all figured out.
Familiar faces around the table, people who want to keep growing in their faith too.

The group meets on scheduled Thursdays, not every week. To find out when the next one is, email Pastor Tammy or call the church office.
Can't make Thursday afternoons? A Wednesday option is available by request. Let Tammy know you're interested.

Yes. The study is a place to ask questions and grow, and you don't need to know your way around the Bible to start. Questions from people reading a book for the first time often make the best conversations.
Senior Pastor
Tammy preaches most Sundays at Anniston First, and on Thursdays she trades the pulpit for a table at Called Coffee. She grew up just down the road in Glencoe and completed seminary at Asbury Theological Seminary.
Teaching is a big part of her ministry beyond Anniston too. She teaches Christian Education and mentors at the North Alabama Conference's annual Licensing School, and for six years she walked with people discerning a call to ministry as Candidacy Coordinator for the Mountain Lakes District.
Worship is Sundays at 8:30 in Acker Chapel and 10:30 in the Sanctuary, 1400 Noble Street. Most Sundays you'll hear Pastor Tammy preach, and you might recognize a few faces from Thursday.
