Nestled in the scenic mountains of Anniston, Alabama, Camp Lee is a retreat center and summer camp where people of all ages come to encounter God, experience nature, and find peace. With a rich history and a deep commitment to Christian hospitality, Camp Lee welcomes groups from 20 to 300, offering year-round lodging, meeting space, and outdoor experiences that nurture community and spiritual growth.

Camp Lee began as Camp Zinn, a Boy Scout camp established in 1931 and operated by the Choccolocco Council until 1965. Following the Scouts’ relocation to a new site, the property became available for sale. On August 11, 1966, Anniston First United Methodist Church accepted a gift of 1,000 shares of Lee Brass common stock from Mr. Arthur H. Lee, which the church then sold to purchase the property. Mr. Lee’s generosity and visionary leadership laid the foundation for what would become Camp Lee—a ministry dedicated to Christian formation, outdoor adventure, and community building. Since that time, the camp has grown to 382 acres with expanded facilities including multiple lakes, lodges, cabins, and a range of recreational amenities.

Camp Lee’s facilities are designed for both comfort and connection. All buildings are air-conditioned and heated, with clean, well-maintained cabins and versatile meeting spaces. Guests enjoy activities such as canoeing, zip lining, swimming, fishing, frisbee golf, volleyball, basketball, climbing, and hiking on miles of wooded trails. The low ropes course and team-building areas provide meaningful opportunities for growth, reflection, and unity among youth groups, churches, and corporate teams.

At its heart, Camp Lee is an expression of Christian education in an outdoor setting. As an extension of the church’s discipleship mission, Camp Lee fosters a Christ-centered community where campers can discover belonging, purpose, and a deeper connection to God through the beauty of creation. From Southern-style meals in the dining hall to quiet moments on wooded trails, every experience is shaped by Camp Lee’s core values: displaying God’s love, showing hospitality, stewarding nature, offering peace, providing Christian ministry, cultivating community relationships, and creating a sense of belonging.
Today, Camp Lee continues to live out its founding vision—a place where people encounter God, grow in faith, and find renewal in nature’s sanctuary. Whether you come for retreat, recreation, or rest, Camp Lee is ready to welcome you with love, hospitality, and grace.
