Ignite Student Ministries is a place for middle and high school students to grow in their faith, connect with their community, and discover the Methodist tradition. Ignite students have opportunities to lead worship, serve their city, and make meaningful connections with Anniston First UMC members of various ages and life stages. Our program strives to make youth ministry an integral part of the entire inter-generational life of the church.
Our weekly program includes time for students (6-12 grades) to fellowship and grow together. Each weekly youth group meeting, which we call MYF (Methodist Youth Fellowship), is from 5-7 PM on Sunday nights at The Bridge. We start with dinner, worship together, have a lesson and discussion, and we play games. We hope your student will join us for MYF!
Each week, a church member or youth parent provides a meal for our students. We have about 15-20 students each week, and providing a meal is a huge help to our youth program. You can signup to provide a meal at the following SignupGenius form Youth Meal Signup Form or use the QR code to the right.

Additionally, Ignite Students, and members of our children’s ministry help lead worship each week by serving as acolytes and crucifers. Please go to the following SignupGenius form AFUMC Acolyte Signup Form to register your students for these opportunities or scan the following QR code:
In addition to weekly programming, youth have opportunities throughout the year to travel together. These opportunities include mission trips, spiritual growth retreats, community service opportunities, and fun recreational activities. These are announced through the church newsletter, church email, social media, and at youth programs. Additionally, Davis Johnson can be contacted directly with questions concerning events.
